Washington D.C. Day Six Part One

Tuesday was our final day in D.C., and it was a tour of some of the most solemn,

and moving places that you will ever see.  I have family that have fought in the three wars that were

honored in our stops today, and I was very excited to see these.  The first stop after arriving on The Mall

was the WWII memorial, and it is a fantastic memorial to the men and women that gave so much,

and really made our country the greatness that it is today.  This memorial is a must visit, and it is

truly ashame that it took so long to build it, and that so many veterans have missed the chance to

see it.

This memorial was everything that I had hoped for.  It took its rightful place on the Mall.  The next stop was

the Korean War Memorial.  It too was very moving, and well another well thought out design.

The next stop was the Lincoln Memorial, and again a very powerful memorial.

One cannot understand the scale of this memorial until you have seen it in person.  The fact

that this area was under water years before construction, is a testiment to the human inginuity.

The next stop to me is the MOST powerful memorial on the mall.  I don't know if it is because my

father and uncle fought in this war, or if it is the simplicity of the memorial, and the way that it really

personalizes the people that fought, and gave their life in it, but it has taken my breath away everytime

that I have been fortunate to see it..

The Vietnam Memorial.

There were two more stops on this day, but I end this post here.  Think about the freedom that you have,

and thank a Veteran for it when you see them.
